Favorite Pita: The BLT (bacon, lettuce, tomato), with grilled onions, mozzarella cheese, Bella sauce, and jalapenos---but my favorite changes all the time!
Jim has been running mobile restaurants since 1986, starting with pushcart at the corner of Broad and High in Downtown Columbus. At that time, Derik’s Gyros was the first cart to serve gyros in Columbus. “To me, seeing a smile on someone’s face enjoying great food is the best compliment I can receive.” Says Jim. In 1994, Jim changed the name of the carts to Skyward Grille and expanded to 8 carts, employing 14 staff members. In 2010, he saw the growing excitement with the food truck industry and decided to build a truck---and Pitabilities was born!
If you ask Jim what has been the key to his success, he would tell you it has been his faith in God and the support of his family. He has been married to Julie for 30 years and they have 4 children. This past year, their family has grown with their oldest two sons getting married to wonderful young women—Jessica and Kayla. And their favorite pitas are: The Teriyaki Chicken.
